Frequently asked questions

Yes, this is what we're built for. Our travel assistant Megan plans non-hunting itineraries alongside your hunt through Beyond The Hunt, wine tours, spa days, jet boating, and distillery visits around Wanaka and Queenstown, so the rest of your group has just as good a trip as you do.

No. New Zealand has no native snakes, no dangerous predators, and nothing venomous that poses a real risk in the backcountry. The terrain and weather are the real challenges in the field, not the wildlife, which is one less thing to worry about compared to hunting in North America or Africa.

It depends on the species. Red Stag and Fallow Buck hunts in accessible hill country suit a broad range of fitness levels, while Bull Tahr and Chamois hunts in steep alpine terrain call for a moderate to good level of fitness, even with helicopter access into the hills. Tell us your fitness level when you book and we'll advise you of the terrain.

Yes. Every trip is tailored to your experience level, whether it's your first hunt overseas or your tenth, and our guides adjust pace, terrain, and expectations to match.

Yes. Red Stag, Bull Tahr, Wapiti Elk, and Fallow Buck can all be bow hunted in New Zealand, and unlike rifles, hunting bows don't require an import permit, so logistics are simpler if you'd rather hunt with a bow.
